How Can We Help?
Deliver an iOS mobile app concept that offers a unique solution to the shelter animal crisis.
Utilize UX design process to empathize, define, ideate, test and validate our concept.
The Crisis
2023 saw a 37% increase in the number of euthanized shelter animals from the 15% attributed to the same period the year prior.
However, at a time where many Americans are navigating post-pandemic challenges, what can be done about this?
What is SPOT?
SPOT is an iOS mobile app concept that seeks to create a unique gamified crowdfunding platform in response to the current shelter animal crisis.
The goal is to streamline all of the ways you can help a shelter animal onto one platform, at the touch of a button.

Importance of Social Networking
The average pet platform serves as a database of animals listed, along with their animal ID # and basic info.
Social media is a popular way to take it a step further as its easy to raise awareness into animal welfare: Pictures, videos, and fundraisers are all ways to attract support and connect with community efforts.
Why would we need another platform?
Get All the Deets
Animals that have made it onto a shelter website and do not find an adopter within a limited amount of time are placed on a "red-list" - code for a roughly 72-hour period of time before euthanization.
Time is of the essence to calculate pledges and coordinate rescue, yet as this portion of the process isn't transparent to the community at large, here is where the many advantages of social media can start to wane.
SPOT offers transparency and at-a-glance info that is pivotal for success: the cost of funding needed to attract a rescue, how far the animal is from their funding goal, status of rescue interest, and the ability to instantly and directly donate to the animal.
